Are you not engaging in semantics?

Semantics -- actually careful wording -- are important. They give fuel (pardon the pun) to the conspiracy theorists who look up the burning temperatures and melting points and say "that's not possible." Careful wording takes away their ability to make that claim.

What does melt mean exactly?

To turn to liquid. We have other words to describe stages before the melting point, such as soften.

I am so sick and tired of some people trying be the smartest ones in the room.

The concept only requires that one be smarter than a fifth grader. OTOH, if everyone was then there wouldn't be any reason for the that quiz show. :)
