His Congressional experience would have helped him in CA. Even liberals don't like illegal immigration and paying taxes out of the behind. Had he ran in 1998 for CA Govenor, he would have won and would have easily been the GOP front-runner now.

Still, I do hope Hunter somehow wins the nomination, or get picked as VP for Fred Thompson.

Well, I’d like to think that but I doubt it. Perhaps if President Reagan had followed Eisenhowers lead and initiated his own version of Operation Wetback, perhaps California might elect another Reagan-like politician. Not now; the South-American vote is too strong.
