I just don’t understand why Hunter didn’t run for President in 2000, or run for California Governor in 1998. Had he done that, even if he would have lost to Bush in 2000, he would have easily been the front-runner by virtue of name recognition. I like Hunter but reality is a mofo though, and if he was smart he’d position himself for VP or Sec of Defense position. He faces Powerball lottery odds of winning.

I don't think he could ever win in California. The California that elected Reagan has gone and the progeny of Reagan families have in large part moved to Arizona, Utah, Idaho, Colorado, etc.

I think Hunter was more concerned with helping to revitalize the military as a member of the Armed Services Committee after Clinton eviscerated it.

And whaddyaknow, he became Chairman in 2002.

Duncan Hunter was busy effectively getting things done where he was in those years, God bless him. Perfect timing is another of his many gifts, for never before have we needed a man with all that he has to offer the country than we do right now. GO DUNCAN HUNTER!
