I think F. Thompson is waiting for McCain to drop out before making a commitment to run. If McCain starts to pick up some steam, Fred stays on the sidelines, if McCain falters Fred will step into his shoes.

I do not see McCain & F. Thompson in the race campaigning against each other.

I do.

Fred made it clear that he thinks there's "something special going on" and there is a time for the man and a man for the time, and those two points have converged for him. I believe he is truly heartened by the groundswell for him that he is seeing. If he's going to do it; he's going to do it for US! All of US, the country US.

I think he's a big enough man to campaign against a "friend" and take whatever the campaign may throw his way, and when all is said and done, pick up with his friend again.
