Wouldn’t the water be awfully cold in that part of the country?

I would think it would be so cold that you couldn’t tell the boys from the girls even if they were nekkid.

It’s obvious the cops had absolutely nothing better to do. A bunch of graduating college kids go skinny-dipping — there’s a real threat to the commonweal.

True story. When my wife and I were newlyweds, we were driving on the NDSU campus (neighboring town from Concordia) about 8 p.m. one night, late March or early April. Outside air temperature was lower 40's, tops. But, hey, anything over freezing is spring in this part of the country.

The first thing we see is flashing white tennis shoes as we approached. Then flashing bare backs. Finally flashing bare buns. My wife, a southern California girl, is totally freaked. I told her frat boys do far worse in her part of the country. "Yes," she shrieked, "but not when it's freezing outside."

They build them a little tougher in this part of the country, I explained.

Why do the words, "like a frightened turtle" come to mind?
