Did the murderers ask for forgiveness and repent?

If they did, then according to Christian doctrine, they must be forgiven.

If they didn't, then this is another empty gesture on the part of some empty headed people who don't really understand Christian doctrine.

And that makes them dangerous to real Christians.

How empty? To act as Christ did? It is not wrong to act in self-defence, or even to attack those who intend to kill you. But we ought not to do this with malice.

Christ asked forgiveness for those who tortured and crucified him. They did not repent and ask for forgiveness. Most people are not experts in Christian doctrine like you are. However, they try to emulate Christ’s behavior. This is a good thing and I believe she should be admired for her gesture. Why you feel she is not a real Christian like yourself is beyond me. You know nothing about her or her faith. As I recall, judging the faithfullness of others is quite contrary to Christian doctrine.

Rather, it is a perversion of biblical teaching to demand repentance before you love and/or forgive. You won't find that in the bible.

“If they did, then according to Christian doctrine, they must be forgiven.”

God forgives sins, he never said don’t hold killers to account on Earth.

Without repentance, what purpose is served by forgiving? Enabling Moslem murderers to kill again and again doesn't show weakness, it shows stupidity.

Exactly. Further, forgiveness doesn’t relive them of paying a penalty to society. That is part of repentance.

You are mixing up reconciliation with forgiveness.

You can forgive someone without their participation, and they can go on their merry way without ever knowing that they've been forgiven. Reconciliation, requires the parties involved to come to an agreement concerning the offense, redress in the form of apology, or payment, etc...
