I worked in the Sex Crimes Unit and know that to be true. Many of the girls that were molested did gain weight to hid from their abusers.
But it’s much more fun to make jokes about fat, ugly women who can’t “get a man” than to recognize that some women have what seems to them to be very good reasons to avoid men. I guess the men feel rejected.
