I think this is horrible, I really do. I am not defending the dog at all, or the breed, or parents for keeping the dog after it displayed aggression.
But-—the article states the children were home with a 16 year old. I know it isn’t an adult, but if you are going to take issue with the parents, do it because they kept the dog, do it because they chose the dog, but don’t do it because they had a babysitter. My teenage daughter is home with my younger kids every afternoon for 90 minutes until I get home from work. It’s the only way I can do it right now. That doesn’t make me a bad mother.
Do you keep a dog who has killed a cat and attacked another dog in your house while you are out?
no one is suggesting that you are a bad mother for leaving a teenager in charge of youngers for a small length of time. but if you kept a pitbull locked in a bathroom and told the kids not to open the door, you should be held criminally responsible for whatever happens from that point on.
Those parents made a decision to HAVE a pitbull AND to expect children would know how to keep it locked up. It resulted in the death of their child. They should serve 10 years each. Neglegent homicide.
