The Chicago Police Department and the Illinois State Police have teamed up to make good on Mayor Daley's pledge that, if it were up to him, nobody would have a gun. Daley and his elite "CAGE" unit are apparently taking advantage of gun privacy loopholes to pinpoint certain individuals for inclusion in the confiscation program.
The ISRA is following up on leads in one case that has disturbing implications. An elderly first-generation Chicago resident was recently paid a visit by an Illinois State Police trooper. After asking to come inside the man's home, the trooper asked if the man owned a gun - to which he replied yes. The trooper then directed the individual to surrender the firearm. The man complied with the officer's demand and the trooper left with the gun. And the story gets better...
The gun in question was purchased legally by the man in the 1970s shortly after he became a U.S. citizen. When Chicago's infamous gun registration scheme went into effect in the early 1980s, the man registered the firearm as per the requirement. However, over the years, the fellow apparently forgot to re-register the firearm, and forgot to renew his Illinois FOID Card.
So...what does this all mean?
In the last edition of The Illinois Shooter, we reported on the activities of a shady taskforce known as the Chicago Anti Gun Enforcement (CAGE) unit. This elite squad, operated jointly by the Illinois State Police, the Chicago Police Department, and the Cook County State's Attorney's Office, supposedly exists to identify illegal gunrunners. However, information gained by the ISRA makes it clear that the CAGE unit is targeting law-abiding citizens, not criminal gunrunners.
Thanks to a ruling by a liberal federal judge, the CAGE unit now has the name of every single person in the United States who, since 1992, lawfully purchased more than one handgun in the period of a week. The CAGE unit also has all the makes, models and serial numbers of those guns. In essence, the Chicago Police Department is now registering guns and gun owners nationwide.
The ISRA has also learned that the CAGE unit has compiled a list of families where more than one person in that family holds a FOID card. Acting on that information, the CAGE unit is now contacting gun shops where those families have shopped, and is illegally registering all guns purchased by those families.
Now, it appears that the CAGE unit is scrubbing Chicago's gun registration list against the list of FOID card holders. Indications are that folks who have let their registrations and FOIDs lapse will have their guns confiscated. We have to wonder how long it will be until state troopers show up at the doors to confiscate the guns of non-Chicago residents who have let their FOIDs expire.
More later as this story develops.
That is the primary reason why I won’t move to Illinois......
Don't know where you're from, but if you did that in California you would find yourself behind bars. Threatening someone's life is a felony. And someone merely being on your property would never stand as a defense if you blew him away.
Amazing how many battles we're having to fight have these words or similar ones associated with them...
FEAR THE GOVERNMENT THAT FEARS YOUR GUNS!
Reign of the little playground bully!!
This mayor Daley kicked my sister and me
off the public playground at Grand Beach,
Michigan when we were 6 and 4 because
his daddy was mayor of Chicago.
I regret I let him get away with it! We should
have known he’d grow up to become a dictator.
The Democrats are successful in the skill of mass mesmerization and using government to reward their constituents with jobs and special attention. Inner cities are their natural habitat - like roaches and rats.
But their policies inevitably lead to further deterioration of those urban centers and the people who live there seem blinded to that fact.
Firearms Owners IDentification card. In Illinois you must have one to buy, sell, or possess guns and/or ammo. To get one you pay a few bucks and go thru a background check by the State Police.
Apparently it is linked to other files in the State. I know that when my trans died on an Expressway, the State Police officer was more interested in wanting to search my car for hidden guns than in calling for a tow truck. Odd that by the time he got out of his car, he already knew I was a FOID holder / gun owner.
When Illinois LEO pull up a license, I believe the screen flashes if they are are a FOID card holder.
If doing their duty is violating the constitutional rights of Americans, then I hope they do get shot.
Mayor Daley: "And, even though I couldn't steal the 2000 election, I'm still the best at stealing most elections."
I wonder when the first LEO will be shot because of Daley.

I wouldn't bet my life on the police NOT enforcing the law just because they might not think its the best law ever. If they didn't like enforcing laws they would find another line of work.
If I only have one wish in life it will be that the Government send Lon Horiuchi, the Ruby Ridge murderer, to my house to take my guns and that I am forewarned that he is coming..Justice will then be served for the Randy Weaver family.
It’s only just begun...
That is precisely the problem with these actions....it causes the law-abiding to distrust law enforcement, undermining our entire justice system.
They really already have many lists in many forms..
CCW permits are really a response to the people...
Those people as was said earlier are a powerful and growing political block..
The Anti-gun crowd would not have fought so hard and so long against CCW permits if it did not view them as harming their anti-gun agenda..
So I think on the whole they do more good than bad..

That might hold if you are every rich in a upscale neighborhood ($2 mill plus houses) but for most of us, I think just innocuously opening the door will be cause enough for him/her to see something suspicious enough to force their way in if that is their intent.
And then if you resist that entry, now you just might be one of those people barricaded in their own house and you will be rescued ala the Janet Reno method.
I'd rather the voter lists in Chicago be "scrubbed".
Looks like we will all need to start buying guns “illegally” very soon.
