This is a creepy post. The author seems to enjoy a little too much phrases like “field of fire” and “tactical variables” and “fire superiority.” It was a college. Let the dead rest in peace and the survivors be left unjudged.

I'm guessing this author has been getting a lot of letters blaming the students for not fighting back and he wanted to defend the students from a tactical point of view. I find no fault with that.

Amen. You’re absolutely right. Very few of us on this board have ever had a weapon intentionally fired at them, and probably wouldn’t have done anything differently. The reality is far from the second-guessing or armchair quarterbacking.

The author seems to enjoy a little too much phrases like field of fire and tactical variables and fire superiority. How can one tell from this tactical evaluation what its author "enjoys" or not about the situation?
At least this author is dealing factually with the situation. If I am required to state my own emotional reaction to this article, I think of the word "refreshing."
Emotional evaluations have become the norm in this wussified culture. Little bleating sheep, we feel your pain.

The guy is a former active Marine. His life was to categorically assess situations like this and act accordingly. To understand it in these terms may help save lives in the future. A Freeper has as a tag line, "Be polite, be friendly, but have a plan to kill everyone you meet." Sounds morbidly funny but there is truth to it.

"This is a creepy post. The author seems to enjoy a little too much phrases like field of fire and tactical variables and fire superiority. "Only creepy to non-military, draft-dodging folks..
Those of us that did serve our country in the armed forces are well familiar with these terms.
I take it that this sort of knowledge is beneath the likes of you?
