That seems pretty outrageous. Maybe JeanS knows more:

Thanks, good work. A little history behind this. Someone else posted an article that quoted some woman that I had never heard of. I questioned the statements in the article and posted that I would try to contact the woman in question and post any response that I recieved. I didn’t have too much trouble finding the woman’s email address and she responded with the details of the Congressional ethics committee hearing. I posted it to FreeRepublic and almost got banned. A few days or a week later, this article was posted.

I have to add that Jim Rob knew who the woman making the statements was, and said that she was a nut. I think that she is the former wife of a member of the veterans’ group that hates McCain. So, there is some reason to question her. But it was talked about quite a bit before the 2000 race. Like I said, it was a he said/ she said, similar to Juanita Broderick, with no evidence to substantiate the charges. McCain did admit to having sex with the woman, though.

Should the McCain-Feingold legislation be enacted, the Republican leaders will be cut off from the public, placed completely at the mercy of a hostile, liberal media, and thus relegated to obscurity. One must admit it's a clever stratagem -- too clever by half. Such a coup would complete the destruction of the democratic process in this country and deny those who dissent from the regnant liberal orthodoxy any voice whatever in the way they are governed. The Bill Kristols, being the only ones allowed to voice an opinion, would then become our masters. But of course, those who had been disenfranchised would no longer have a stake in the system. Thus do democracies perish.

This is the reason I will not vote for McCain. He can't be trusted.

Sorry, I don't know any more than what I posted in 2000.

R.I.P. to one of my favorite commentators, Edward Zehr. He died years ago as a recluse.
