In fairness to Hannity, he’s a New Yorker, and New Yorkers have a bias toward Rudy. It’s understandable. McCain is unacceptable, and the minor candidates are going nowhere, so if you want to show favoritism toward any declared candidate, your choices are Rudy or Romney.

There’s been a defacto armistice over the past week or so. Go with it. We’ll be back later, spam and malice-free.
Bigger things on the table right now.

Goldwater may not have approved of the anti rudi comments, as you say, but neither would he have approved of most of Rudi’s positions and willingness to compromise his “principles”.
Further, Duncan Hunter has been steadily moving up in the polls. The other day Hannity was touting Rudy and Romni and McCain their “strong responses” to the torture question in the debate. The only strong, unequivocal answer from anyone in that debate came from Duncan Hunter and Sean refused to even mention it.
Everywhere Duncan goes to speak he picks up votes. If Hannity and Rush and the other national talk show hosts would give him the time of day he’d soon be blasting past the RINO triad. After all, the election is a year and half out, so there is plenty of time if he’s given a chance to talk to the American people.
Of the front three, the only one I would consider voting for is Romni.

No. I don’t know who Al Simmons is. But I like what he’s saying, even if I would have said it a bit differently.
You people should really stop making huge assumptions about FReepers you disagree with. It makes you look stupid and nasty.

Your response about Goldwater is correct.
I like Hunter too, though I’m really a Newt guy, I’ve decided. Hunter can definitely play an important role in the race. His best bet for doing this, and getting more attention from Sean, Rush, et al, is to grab some headlines.

No, absolutely not, and I never suggested this. I said some of the anti-Rudy people are awful, not all.
And let me add: I’m losing interest in Rudy and leaning toward Newt, although I’ll continue to defend Rudy when warranted.

Its real simple Al. JR became Ill from all of the cheer leading and dishonesty from Guliani supporters. I will never vote for the likes of Guliani and nor will many conservatives so it was time someone within the conservative movement through down the gauntlet and said enough. But back to my original point of dishonesty. Guliani supporters were using this site to propagandize their candidate and were ganging up and shredding folks trying to shine the light into their smoke filled room.
I cheered when JR said “enough” I’m still cheering.
C’Mon Fred!

I’m honestly having trouble understanding how a Rudy supporter would make the mistake of thinking he has common cause with people who care about liberty, the Constitution, and the protection of life. If you were supporting Hillary, would you be crying the blues that no one is patting you on the back here? There IS NO DIFFERENCE between Rudy and Hillary or Obama. They all hate the 2nd amendment. They all would all cheer the ascendancy of degenerate New York social values in the red states. They are all creatures of the state.
To: liberty or death
Guliani supporters were using this site to propagandize their candidate I think the same can be said for some other candidates' supporters too. Any serious candidate seeking to court conservative voters would be wise to have some of their volunteers networked into freerepublic.com in order to get there message out to this large grassroots network of self-described conservatives. Now about Rudy Guiliani and whether he is liberal/conservative ..... I don't think it matters what Jim Robinson thinks. What matters is what Guiliani's record/views are.
To: Al Simmons
you have now become the back-stabber of the conservative cause
Let's get something straight. Rudy is the back-stabber, the Benedict Arnold. The sooner someone swift-boats him, the better off we will all be.
To: Al Simmons
LOL you are a nut case, sorry but this is not your forum. And Jim Robinson can run it any way he likes, including make the decision on what Free Republic stands for.
Jim Robinson has made it very clear how he and many of us feel about a Rhino, a Rudy in the White House. Only someone that is NOT a conservative would be for Rudy.IMO
