In the past, I've tried explaining to "journalists" why a semi-automatic-only rifle isn't an "assault rifle".
Talk about an exercise in futility.
They don't know anything about firearms, and aren't the least bit interested in learning.
To many people, if it isn’t an old fashioned cowboy gun or a double barrel shotgun, it’s an “assaultgun”. People I’ve talked to have been shocked to learn that even cops are allowed to carry a GLOCK on their belt....ooo, scary bad, black assault gun with way to much power...and it’s a SEMI-AUTO!...how is that even legal???
Thanks holymoly your post 13 is the best I have ever seen on the Free Republic site that describes what the differences are between a magazine and a clip. It is one of the things that will tell me instantly how educated a person is when speaking about firearms. If the person uses the clip jargon I know that they are superficial in gun knowledge or ignorant (except when talking about true clip usage, as in the M1 Grand, etc). If the said person uses the term magazine correctly (when it comes to firearms) they take a step up in my eyes.
