But it gave us a chance to educate another poster, and other readers, that Fred Thompson was a REAL prosecuter for many years.

He was so good at it that they made a movie about one of his cases. And when they could not find an actor that could play a lawyer well enough, they hired Fred, and that launched his acting career (in the movie “Marie”).

He was a key lawyer in Nixon’s impeachment hearings. He had a private legal practice, and did serve as a lobbyist before that was such a derogatory term.

Acting was his 3rd career, being in the Senate was his fourth.

Actually, that was a civil case in which Thompson represented the plaintiff/whistleblower about the selling of pardons. He won big, and it did lead to several criminal convictions including the governor. Or at least that’s how I remember it.
