What I am learning is that “banning” is not some modern invention to throw out rudy supporters.
This site has a history of banning people who were long-time major contributers.
Which just means that people change, get different priorities, get tired of following rules, and off they go. Not to death or to a better place, they are still around, just not posting with their old screen names.
This has happened before, not over the same reasons, but, the “flame wars” of the past were tough. Back then, as a lurker, I sometimes couldn’t take it and would stop coming to FR for a few weeks. (I guess I have gotten older and tougher, as I have not taken a short break this time.)
