I tried a similar approach last weekend, when shopping at the flea market. I found an adorable relish tray, for only $4. I asked the vender "Would you take three?" Before he could answer, I told him "I'll pay whatever your price is, no matter what." I got it for only $15. I'm beginning to think that's not such a good strategy.
