I knew it was coming to this. Good folks getting purged for supporting the ‘wrong’ GOP candidate. Mind-boggling.
Well, I better keep quiet up here in my hiding place, and listen for the inevitable footsteps coming up the stairs. My bags are all packed for that little train ride to the countryside... maybe I can still learn to love Big Brother...

Apparently you didn’t read far enough.
That was not the reason they were banned.
Jim Rob even specifically stated that people who supported Rudy just needed to be honest about it. But the problem was, in their zeal to support Rudy, they also began to bash conservatives such as Ronald Reagan.
So before you slink off in abject fear, maybe you should read more and then make a determination of WHY they were banned.
Opinions on FR have been tracking left since the 2004 election cycle. There a lot of long-time FReepers for whom party trumps principle, and who believe that the only way to win is to abandon conservative ideals.
Anyway, I’m sure most of them can come back after a few days if they desire.
Yes, you could do all that, or you could figuratively pull your head out and realize that those who got themselves banished did so of their own accord. Several were practically begged to cease & desist.
I repeat: No one was “purged” - that is simply nonsense.
No one has banned the discussion of candidates or issues, but management has insisted that a return to the stated intent of the house was necessary.
I don't "support" the bannings, but I reject your claim that people are getting purged simply for supporting the "wrong" candidate.
Every person who got banned from THIS thread made personal attacks on Jim, or on good conservatives like Reagan, in disregard for the truth. Most got a warning to stop before they were banned. Some asked to be banned.
I'm not defending the bans, I wish they were all lifted, but it's fiction that people are being banned simply for being annoyingly supportive of Rudy.
If that were true, areafiftyone and Hildy would be gone, and they are still here, along with a lot of other Rudy supporters.
