I know you to be a loyal Republican. The fact that Rudy is affecting you and other loyalists this way tells me that for the first time in modern politics, the GOP runs the risk of allowing a true third party threat to take shape in 2008. They won’t be able to win but it will ensure a Hillary presidency. She must be loving the idea of a Rudy nomination.

What you may not realize is the Republican party is becoming increasingly socialistic as the Democrats. They are essentially one party based on their shared ideology regardless of the party labels. Creating a Conservative party will restore the two party system.

I agree that a substantial thid party draw would ensure a Hillary presidency. But I disagree that she must be loving the idea of a Rudy nomination -- Rudy couldn't win the FR vote, but he is capable of winning the national vote and defeating Hillary. Hillary is hating that idea. And it would be a very sad chapter in US political history if FR played into Hillary's hands, by drawing off Republican votes from Rudy to an unelectable third party candidate.

Yes.

A Rudy nomination will give us a third party spoiler and a Hillary win.

It's what the DBM push polls don't tell you.

I have said for the past 5 years, that we will probably see a third party in'08! I don't hold claim to being a learned scholar in politics. In fact I can't claim much else but common sense! But I DO know RIGHT from WRONG. I do know that what I have seen happen to our land and nation over the past 65 years of my life is not headed UP HILL, but only DOWN... We MUST be strong and couragous!! WE MUST stand for right , even if we are in the minority. Right now, it is too early to say who I would vote for President. I am listening, reading , observing and PRAYING. So far, I would say Duncan Hunter has the qualities and convictions that we hold in this household. Fred Thompson also. But I WILL OBEY GOD no matter what others do, period.

"for the first time in modern politics, the GOP runs the risk of allowing a true third party threat to take shape in 2008."

I hear that from someone on this board EVERY election cycle. I think Perot doused the "third party" idea for a long, long while.

The third party gang gave us bill clinton, and this country has been on a downhill slide straight to hell since then...and now HIS WIFE IS RUNNING? Certainly Americans won't be stupid enough to allow her to be elected President. If so, let's put our heads between our legs and kiss our collective asses "goodbye".

If she gets in, somebody hasn't been paying attention. I know, the "sheep" among us will go along with the hollywood left, and do what's "in" at the time.

I personally can do without Rudy as President. Sure, he had high visibility on 9/11, but did he actually do anything any other mayor of a city that large (and visible) would not have done? What was he going to do, sit home and whittle whimseys?

If Sean Hannity has anything to do with it Rudy will be elected - and I have always liked Sean, listen to him everyday - but he is ultra-HIGH on Rudy...talks about him incessantly.

It's going to be uphill, whomever runs. The last 3 elections were pretty close, and now with the whack job the libs and the press have put on Bush, it's going to be even closer.

Go Fred...

A “threat” that is long overdue in my view. The question that I think is about to be answered for conservatives in very clear and stark terms is whether or not the GOP stands for anything at all other than the election of it’s members to political office regardless of ideology.

No way I can read all this thread, so I am going to echo that. There are millions of us, getting ready for church this morning, who cannot hold our noses, (as we have done in the past), and cast our vote for Rudy. I can understand the pragmatic argument, but it fails when I have to discard my principles.

I only hope that the power in the GOP can understand that.

THe DEMOCRATS love the idea of a Rudy nomination - It Hillary wins; they win - If Rudy wins; they win. They get a liberal in the Whitehouse either way.

If we have a choice between a pell-mell streak to socialist craptopia versus a continuous creep with our own waffly "leaders", we should take the fast track, we'll still be young enough to fight it if it comes to that. We let "Rudys" get us there over 30 more years and we'll all be fossily old and the crop of kids/youger folks then will be school generated socialist lackeys...
