The Republican party is the original “big tent” party.

We need to educate at least half of the population to understand why liberal ideas are wrong, and don't work. We need to educate at least half of the population to understand that personal responsibility, strong national defense, and strong family moral values are the correct way for people to live. It is hard to change minds by screaming, it takes reasoned discussion.

We are not gaining any experience in such discussion on this thread unfortunately.

If we fail in this task to educate our fellow Americans, then the liberals take over and they have the power to instill enough power in the government to make it difficult for us to be able to organize against them in the future because they use their power to buy votes.

You’re right, and I agree. What we’re seeing here is the inevitable consequence of a pressure cooker left too long without release.

It’s not FreeRepublic’s finest hour, nor its worst. The rhetoric is overheated at the moment, and passions at play, but if you look closely at the transactions - the interplay - you’ll see that no one had to be ejected from the site. Those who have been banned did so through their own (mis)deeds.

I went back and re-read Jim’s original rant (was it that long ago already?!). Nowhere in it was there an prohibition against Rudy threads. Nowhere in it was an edict to “think as I do or else”. What I saw was the owner’s expressed desire to get the site back where he wants it; centered on Conservative values and focussed against our true enemies, the Dhimmis. I welcome the reaffirmation.
