“I googled that phrase and found 169 references but they seemed to assume I already knew what it meant. Would you mind enlightening me and anybody else who was too young for Vietnam?”
I was too young for Vietnam too, I served 82nd ABN 2/508 PIR, 80-84. It’s just a generic payback type statement. Sometimes more serious than others. The eighty-deuce was and is a rough unit of guys willing to jump out of airplanes. Some were pretty crazy. But good crazy. I pray for my old unit and everybody else serving now every night.
Thanks for the explanation.
I feel for the guys over there. DD Hunter made the point that it was his mom who have the hardest time with him going back for a third tour - its really the families too, not just the troops who need to feel the country supports them in the difficult, dangerous job of protecting a fledging democracy.
