“But it’s evidence that’s as good as you’re going to get.”

I understand your point. However, you made a pretty declarative statement that people in American are for federally funded abortion, open borders, sanctuary cities, and forcing special gay rights and the agenda on us and our children. I’ve always assumed these things not to be the case after years of following politics and the polling that comes with it. Now your admitting you didn’t have the data to support your claims. You do give some anecdotal examples, some I agree with and some I don’t.

I’d like to focus on something constructive where we do have agreement. You’re comment, “the news is not good (for conservatives). I very much agree with that statment. The liberals control the decisive socialization nodes in most of America. They control the mainstream media, the K-12 education system, and they control academia. Until the conservative movemtn let’s go of its “go to private school mantra” and attempt to influence all of these nodes, we will lose. Conservatism needs a bold long term plan of action to get conservatives and their children interested into going into the media, and education.

I agree with you about taking back the institutions.

I guess I would modify your characterization about my views of where the people are as follows:

In the abstract, a majority of Americans are against federally funded abortion, open borders, sanctuary cities, and forcing special gay rights and the agenda on us and our children.

As a practical matter, however, through the decisions they make when voting, a majority of Americans are permissive towards those things that they oppose in the abstract.

Candidates who run on an agenda of "taking the bull by the horns", whether it is on borders, or abortions, or actively opposing the "gay agenda", don't appear to do well.

Achieving conservative GOVERNANCE, rather than governance by liberals who are using conservative ideas to get elected, is very difficult.

And it's all the more difficult because lots of these "conservative" candidates are deluding themselves about what they believe, and what they are willing to do.

The present occupant of 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue is exhibit #1 of that phenomenon.
