I’ve tried other software, but I have compatibility issues with non-personal projects. It’s just easier to bite the bullet and stay with MS (despite how it pains me to support Bill Gates, lol).
Both those software packs can save files in Word formats, read word formats, as well as their own native ones, which is why I like’em, and create pdfs as well.
Most of the time, for just simple writing, I use wordpad.
