The ritual beheading followed by dancing is only a celebration that means nothing. Since you were an ardent defender of Terri Schiavo from getting starved to death, I will take your word on that. And that means something. Did I get something wrong here?

Apparently nobody cares if it becomes an anti-GOP site next year and what that might mean for this forum. If the GOP moves so far left that FR becomes an anti-GOP forum, what happens to FR will be the least of our problems.

We have almost a year to get a nominee chosen. No need to worry about the hypothetical matchup if we fail in the primaries. That's how I'd like to feel about it, but I don't know how many thousand posts have been made on this thread regarding people's intentions if the "wrong" candidate wins the nomination. I'm not sure I'm being more hypothetical than they are and trying to extrapolate the consequences of that, not to the election, but to this forum.
I'm not even really worried about the election yet. I haven't heard many candidates. I barely know who Jim Gilmore is. We haven't had the first debate, and you're right, the election is far off.
But we're slashing and killing and threatening our own, proclaiming what we'll do next year.
So yeah, maybe I'm thinking about what happens if those threats are fulfilled. I wondered if anyone else had similar concerns.
Maybe it's best that I stay away from threads like this, because they make me incredibly uncomfortable. I don't like what's going on at FR right now at all.

I do want to thank you for originally posting that autograph page. It made me get my own from Steyn. I’ll treasure my book and special message forever.

Sunny and hot here. Had to water the grass and weed the rosebed...evil little grass sproutlets...but I have a bunch of rosebuds.

I don’t know what to say, except “thank you” for such a lovely compliment for me...and Alaska. Alaska, it truly is spectacular! :)

I am a libertarian who has quite a lot in common with social conservatives “which is the very litmus test that is the topic of this thread,” as you put it.

... And another thing...
If you look at a map of Arizona and see the word River AKA “Wash”, it’s misleading.
What they mean is, “more dirt.”

My point is that libertarians are typically fiscally conservative, and socially liberal. They are the very people that are part of the FR community that this thread was intended to silence from stating those views.
It appears that you don't know all that much about libertarians. Or maybe you don't know that much about manners.
It never occurred to me that this thread was intended to silence me. Quite the contrary, I found it most liberating and affirming.
