Are there the Sunday a.m. talk show threads still? Any live threads? http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1825427/posts
Here's the Sunday talk show thread. Not much live going on right now; I hope things settle down soon.

Rudy is the GOP frontrunner, and I'd like to know why. Sure, I know the general reasons about "America's Mayor", blah blah blah, but I don't see the point of utterly dismissing him here and chilling the debate. For Pete's sake, it's not an emergency. Nobody is even voting this year.Thank you--the voice of reason. You are so right.
It is a shame, what's happened here. A tragedy, actually.

Jim, I have a problem with large numbers of people from one religion - or from a narrow interpretation of one religion - legislating based on the tenets of that narrow religious interpretation. I do not think this is an inconsistant view with conservatism, if we’re looking at conservatism as meaning “to conserve.” First and foremost I think it is important to conserve freedom. Conserving freedom becomes an issue when lawmakers start using a narrow interpretation of one religion as the basis for legislation.
I am a admirer of Jefferson and an admirer of the Age of Reason, which is the true basis for the foundation of this country.

That's a very good description of what this is all about.
Post of the thread IMO.

I stand by what I said, and I’m not about to engage in a food fight with you.

SF, I have no real quarrel with you, your getting involved in that little food fight between me and another poster surprised me, I have to say I didn't 'get' why you would want to poke your head into a bunch of flying creme pies, lol. Because man, there is NO reason......it's just Freepers pissing off Freepers.......kind of my not so subtle point.....it's done, we're just hurting ourselves now...... I don't hate you, you don't hate me.......so......perhaps time to be quiet...(STFU).....;)

You’re still deluded. I was referencing the founder’s failure to apply “all men” to blacks.

There was nothing vulgar or ungentlemanly about that post. It was very much to the point.
You do understand, do you not, that if this forum had voted on the most despised members of Free Republic, that the likely outcome of that contest would have been: 1) Peach, 2) Nopardons, and 3) Howlin.
Those women were roundly despised here. And while I had a certain emotional attachment to Howlin (she had intelligence, wit, honor, and a certain trustworthiness to maintain confidences), I can see why she would have made the "most despised" list.

“Its a great place!
All its denizens are united by their love of Rudy. They have passion for a man, not for this country.”
That’s just NOT TRUE.
As I’ve posted numerous times, my views on abortion, gun control and gay marriage couldn’t BE more opposed to Rudy’s. If we could come up with a conservative candidate who’s actually electable in lieu of him, I’m all for it.
Where I part ways with most of the people here is that, given the choice between Rudy and Hillary, I’d vote for Rudy in a heartbeat - because there ARE some things about the guy that I like, whereas having Hillary in office would be a complete disaster.
Nor, with this viewpoint, have I ever felt less than welcome at that other board.

Thank you—I’ve noticed a major dropoff in pings, and I was on a boatload of pinglists. I could never keep up.
I think a lot of people have just stopped posting here.

Thank you very much.
it used to be that we had four full years in which to forget all about Dixville Notch, but they keep squeezing it.
Yes. It seems to be once continuous election cycle now. All trying to gain oneupmanship on that little village.
I'll see you around the primaries. Take care.
Maybe there'll be peace on FR then.

When freepers started flocking to Duncan Hunter, you said that, given the front-loaded primary schedule, that someone had to be a contender sooner rather than later.
Now you're saying that no one is even voting this year.
You can't have it both ways.

Your obsession with associations has a Stalinist flavor. Back off and stop being so communist.
Watch your step, I'll conjure up the spirit of Leon Trotsky and send him over to your place with an order of borscht.

It's an anti-freeper site, started by MadIvan... I looked at the mission statement of WA. Nowhere do I see that it's a anti-Freeper site.
Why do you say that it is?
To: SandyInSeattle
Take the Rudy threads and passionate Rudy supporters out of Wideawakes and the entire site would collapse within three days.
Wideawakes is first and foremost a Rudy rally. Everything else is secondary.
To: mkjessup
I’ll take and order of borscht over an ice pick any day.
To: BykrBayb
Btw, WA was started March 5. This thread, which is only about a week old, was not the cause of WA. If WA was started before this thread, then why would you call it an anti-Freeper site?
