No way did a tree cause this mishap. The entire flight profile is checked for obstructions. Now, it is possible that he hit a tree when he was already on the way down, and out of control. But this did not start because of a dammed tree.

He dropped, clipped the tree...
The news is just spitting out whatever they hear.
If he had time to clip a tree he had time to eject.
We don’t even know if he ejected or not yet...

Couple of possibilities(guessing here like everyone else), being in the #6 slot, aircraft could have been damaged from a part from one of the front aircraft(perhaps even striking pilot?) Bird(s)? Catastrophic compressor failure(blades cutting major control functions?)
I saw them (Blue's) many times, mostly El Toro.
This is sad.
