Breaking on CNN a few minutes ago.
1 plane down in neighborhood, status of pilot or occupants unknown at this time.
Looks more like the Snow Birds and their Tudors.
Not in those aircraft they aren’t.
I worked the Snowbirds into Oshkosh one year, have a neat story about calling traffic about them. I’ve worked The Blues lots of times, very professional bunch. The really get a kick out of showing off for traffic.
“Why are you so friggin rude to people?”
“because they deserve it!”
Paradoxically enough, people deserving it is still not a license to do it.
I saw something called “A Year With The Blue Angels” on the Military Channel a few weeks back and one of their maintenance guys mentioned just that—the planes they get tend to be the oldest because the Navy (rightly) wants to keep their freshest stuff up at the pointy end.
What’s the Hornet F404 compressor stall? If I had to guess, I’d say angle of attack disrupting airflow into the engine? I’m not a pilot though.

There used to be an excellent Veterans Day weekend event down in Columbia, SC, the Celebrate Freedom Festival. Three years ago one of the pilots there, a guy from Santee named Bob Tobul, had the engine fail on his restored Korean War-era F4U Corsair and wound up crashing into a neighborhood when he tried to get it back to the downtown airport. The next year, they moved the Festival 15 miles east, out into a much more rural area near Camden (Kershaw County).

If they had had the correct fuses for the bombs, they would have sunk a lot more. Most of the bombs just passed through the ships with out going off.

Looks like Kevin Davis was the pilot in this story, too.
Sorry Rick Sanchez sucks today and as he did in Miami years ago......Been listening to the Blue Angle accident thing for too long with out any mention of this pilot who was one of the Nav Air finest and all we hear of are the pore residents of this neiborhood.....The Navy lost a splendid pilot...Lets spam the crap out of CNN on this one.....
Do you know anything about that?
You are new here too.
I have not seen a single aviation thread in which you were not a prick.
Why not stick to facts and leave the insults behind?
Just d@mn. The Blue Angels performed here in Corpus Christi last weekend. We watched them practice as we make our daily treks along the bay. I had to curtail lectures while they practiced. And I don’t regret a minute of it. These guys are the best PR the Navy - nae, the military - has. Prayers to Davis’ family. He served a good and righteous cause.
I wish I had known. I would have tried to go see them. Sometimes, I’ll watch the future Angels practicing. It’s awesome and where did they go?:’?)
because they deserve it!
Thanks so much for my warm welcome.
I'll remember to include all of you in my updates in the future.
As to my qualifications, all I told you is that I was an aviation journalist today. You have no idea what I did before then.
Yet, I sit in judgment by strangers.
I look forward to our next chance to call each other school yard names.
Until then - I have several stories to get out.
Aww..stick around. Besides, reporters can get some good scoops here. FR is often “breaking”:’)
Amen, and I’ll remember good man in my prayers.
Oddly - I thought we were on the same side.
I have plenty more info on LCDR Davis - pictures, and personal details.
I’m going to sleep now - I have demo flights all day tomorrow.
Better things to do then get flamed by strangers.
If the sentiment here changes - I’ll post what I know tomorrow.
g’night.
Yep,,,we are,,,stuff gets hot round here sometimes,,,
that temper thang!...;0)
