I will amend my previous statement. My opinion is based on personal experience and from the pilots mouth
and from the commendation on his wall. We will agree to disagree.

You are right - I saw that too. Everyone here seems so certain that it’s him but I need confirmation first.

#7 (narrator) is usually promoted up to demo-flight status in his second year on the team. #7 does not necessarily go to #6, but to where he would fit best on the team. #5 and #6 are the solo’s which means that Davis was probably an above average stick.

FBW is Fly by Wire, manual control.

It means that the aircraft has very limited rudder and elevator control. VERY limited. FBW=’Fly-by-wire’ In the Hornet, the pilot is only one voting member, along with the computer, on what the aircraft is allowed to do. The Hornet is an inherently unstable aircraft, and needs the computers just to stay in the air. The instability is what makes the aircraft extremely maneuverable.

OMG. How would I find out if he went to A & M? I knew a Kevin Davis who went into the Navy to fly. Looks very similar. Please don’t let it be him.

I always thought Blue Angels only served for 2 years. So perhaps he replaced the former number 6 and was only going to serve as number 6 this one year?

I know more than one pilot who steered their F-8 away from civilization before punching out.
Our Mayor's daughter brought an A-10 back to base when it had been shot to shreds and had no hydraulics.
Scores of pilots in Vietnam flew mortally wounded jets back to the coast before punching out.
Pilot don't like to be on the ground in a combat zone. It's dangerous and dirty down there!

Well A-4 driver then what did you think of pukin dog's comment at post 132?
See..I personally know Two A-4 pilots that steered away from homes. One lost control on disconnect and one ran out of gas. I know two both these pilots tried (radio traffic) to avoid housing and both were successful. One lived, one rode it all the way in.
I worked on them Skyhawks for 20 years.
