I hope a stray bullet doesn’t hit the shuttle. If hail can delay the launch three months, just imagine how long a bullet hole will delay it. What a multi-billion dollar joke that thing turned out to be!
They immediately locked down all the launch pads at the Johnson Space Center. Standard operating procedure.
They then covered the shuttle orbiters with kevlar to prevent a bullet strike.
Idiot.
“I hope a stray bullet doesnt hit the shuttle”
Hate to be the one to tell you this, Sheila Jackson Lee, but the shuttle is in Florida
Might be difficult since the shuttles are in Florida.
But building 44 is a few hundred feet from the Mission Control building. MCC is a concrete bunker though, so no chance of a stray bullet affecting operations there. Except building 44 might house the TDRSS satellite uplink to the space station.
What shuttle are you talking about?
Apologies if I missed your sarc tag.
Yeah, you know thats a real problem...Even a stray bullet flying all the way from Houston (Clear Lake) Texas, across the vast expanses of the Gulf of Mexico, across the middle of Florida all the way to the Kennedy Space Center on the Atlantic coast of Florida would be a real concern for say...
Endangered migrating Whooping Cranes...Right???
/bigtime sarcasm
I guess your whole “multi-billion dollar joke thing” struck a cord with me somehow...
