Reid Must Resign
Attacking Alberto Gonzales is like clubbing a baby seal. He's weak. He was always weak. He was weak when he served as White House counsel. He was weak when he was confirmed by the Senate for attorney general. And he was weak during testimony before the Senate Judiciary Committee yesterday. Now, before there was Gonzales, there was John Ashcroft. He was always strong. He was strong when he served in the Senate. He was strong when he was confirmed by the Senate for attorney general. And he was strong when he testified before the 9/11 Commission. They said he had to go because he was strong.
Everyone knows what's going on here. The Democrats, who started this, want Gonzales's head on a stake as another supposed example of administration of corruption. They want the public to believe that the firing of these eight U.S. attorneys is the equivalent of Watergate. These are the same Democrats who defended Janet Reno to the end despite real malfeasance, including the Elian Gonzales disaster, the WACO massacre, and the deadly expansion of the legal wall between the CIA and FBI. In comparison, Gonzales is Oliver Wendell Holmes. But Republicans have had enough of him. They see him as incapable of defending himself, let alone advancing a conservative agenda. And they hope to replace him with someone more to their liking, which will never happen given this Senate. In the big scheme, none of this matters, and the public could care less. The presidents rating arent affected by this. This is an inside-the-beltway manufactured scandal.
(By the way, I say this as someone who has never been impressed with Gonzales, Harriet Miers, and so many of the people the president holds close.)

Take a number! We all think Mark is hot.
Well..the Senate is closed for the weekend...and NO GOP Senators got up to address Reid’s comments.
Stand in line:)
Ok- here someone ELSE that I honestly think should hear from us...please read the following statement from Senator Joe :
http://lieberman.senate.gov/contact/
WASHINGTON Senator Joe Lieberman (ID-CT) today made the following statement in response to Senate Majority Leader Harry Reids comment that the Iraq War is lost:
This week witnessed horrific terrorist attacks by Islamist extremists in Iraq, killing hundreds of innocent civilians and leading Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid to declare that the war is lost.
With all due respect, I strongly disagree. Senator Reid’s statement is not based on military facts on the ground in Iraq and does not advance our cause there.
Al Qaedas strategy for victory in Iraq is clear. They are trying to murder as many innocent civilians as possible in an effort to reignite sectarian fighting and drive us to retreat from Iraq.
The question now before us is whether we respond to these terrorist attacks by running away as Al Qaeda hopes abandoning the future of Iraq, the Middle East, and ultimately our own security to the very same people responsible for this weeks atrocities or whether we stand united to fight them.
This is exactly the wrong time to conclude that we have lost the war in Iraq, or that our new strategy has failed. Instead, we should provide General Petraeus and his troops with the time and the resources to succeed. We should not surrender in the face of barbarism
Over here...see the above statement by Joe Lieberman.
God bless him..
Thank you...I will let Joe know that his statement is appreciated...however I wish he would have done it on the Senate floor. (I won’t say the last part, YET).
Agreed....I wish he and McConnell and at least SOME of our other senators STOOD UP ON THE FLOOR OF THE SENATE and read Harry Reid the riot act.
Honestly...since this first came out yesterday I keep scanning the net looking for statements by the members of the collegial body to denounce these remarks by Reid.
Still looking...no sign of guts anywhere yet..
I am so, so disgusted right now...I don’t know what to do.
I am glad to know I am not the only one. Keep up the good work.
Thanks. It’s a good statement but it is worthless unless he and others hit the MSM.
Shep stated he’s not surprised that Reid would say this as “Americans have been saying this for a long time.”
spit spit spit
UNBELIEVABLE...Shep is CLEARLY taking Reid’s side right now on FOX.
Wow.
I am still in SHOCK at how Shep handled that “debate”!!!
He was MAD because the GOP guy said that the Americans had built schools and hospitals!!!
I wrote Brit earlier that I was out on FOX...and this Shep segment is just another reason.
With respect, Great One, they should both go.
Both men sounded like damn fools yesterday.
I don't think Mark is hot. I prefer cyborgs.
