Ordinarily, I’m a far-right conservative and proud of it, but, in this case, I would hesitate to call Mary Winkler a murderer. We just have no sure way of knowing what went on in that home when the door shut behind them. I wouldn’t put too much stock in what the children reported, either; they sometimes get trained from birth to keep some painful secrets. Years of serious spousal abuse went on at a house in my neighborhood, and only one neighbor guessed what was happening. Unfortunately, she kept quiet until it was too late. My guess is that the jury got this sentence about right.
Sorry, I think I said that the jury probably got the SENTENCE about right, I should have said VERDICT.
