You asked — “Have they said whether he bought the firearms legally or not? I can’t remember if I heard that? Also do they know when he bought them? Was it before or after that court order??”

He bought them legally, as the dealer did the background check as required and the dealer said the guy was normal and unremarkable, so no real reason to be concerned. And in addition to that, he bought the second gun after the 30-day period had elapsed. Apparently you can’t buy another one within 30 days. So, right after that, he got the second one. That was just about a week ago, I think (thereabouts).

And lastly, the commital was *voluntary* — according to the news conference today — and thus a *voluntary commital would not be recorded. An “involuntary one” would be recorded. That’s the idea I got from the news conference today.

Well that'll be changed with the unintended consequence that fewer nuts will check themselves in now.

Thanks, I hadn't seen that last bit of information.... Perhaps a voluntary committal should be grounds for a denial as well...
