Among the materials was a DVD with 27 QuickTime video files, totaling about 10 minutes, showing Cho talking directly to the camera. He does not name anyone specifically, but he mentions hedonism and Christianity, and he talks at length about his hatred of the wealthy.
The word "hedonism" is a direct quote, while Christianity is apprently the writers own spin. Seems odd to take literary license with the quote of a dead mass muder so soon after the event.
If you’re “inferring” things into posts you’re writing, you’ve got the English skills of Cho. Had he not been given automatic “A”s due to fear, they may have corrected him when he used “infer” but meant “imply.”
On the videos, he compares himself to Jesus on the cross.
Oh my goodness! A+Bert!!! I had almost forgot him! I just checked, and he has been banished to zotland. It was kind fun around here when there were just a few well-known characters to spice things up. It really was.
Thanks again for the welcome back. And yes, I’m dizzy. And not just from being blonde LOL
BUMP!
I get the grade inflation thing because over the years, we’ve lowered the bar on academic excellence. I just never heard of students storming into college prof offices demanding a grade change. Back when I attended Penn State, any of my profs would have laughed me out of their office. And I spent much time in certain prof offices since I was a “borderline” student in their class and wanted the A or B(grade borderline and wanted to get a few extra points for “caring” about my grade - a few extra participation points).
The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn. LOL! That was the book. She had to argue and support the homosexual angle in her paper and oral report. The teacher believed that Mark Twain was “afraid” to come out and say Huck and Jim had a homosexual relationship but made references in the book. I read the book twice, once in high school and again a month or so ago. I just don’t see it. Her paper had to argue the homosexual agenda, imo, so she argued it without believing it. She had to support that Huck and Jim had a sexual relationship as inferenced by Mark Twain but because of the times, he couldn’t come out and say it. And surprisingly, or maybe not so, she received a perfect score, her first in this class. We argued for days about this assignment. I finally convinced her to write what the teacher wanted to read.
As for parents not protesting stuff like this, I pick and choose my battles with the schools, my kids, etc. I think her English teacher this year is a nut but he’s a nut that can affect her grade (not tests, since most answers are factual, but essays and subjective assessments). English class isn’t math or science class where there’s an exact answer and the facts can’t be too twisted. My two teens are honor students, all of their academic classes are honors classes. And it’s really funny in a sick way, but one of the comments on one report card was “student doesn’t ask teacher for help” - well, she went from an A to a B so please tell me what “help” she needs? was my attitude. Why should she ask for help when she went from an A to a B grade?
But again, I pick and choose what I protest or call the school about. I’m not going to protest or call the teacher or school over a book or over my kid having to support the homosexual inferences she doesn’t think exist. Or over a comment like the one made on the other kid’s report card. Fortunately, they haven’t needed me to intervene yet at the high school level so when I do, if I ever have to, it might actually mean something. I’ve been a vocal advocate at the grade school level more than I want to admit. I have two at the grade school level and it’s worse there in some ways. They’re still little kids that need mommy to help out or fix it but I hope the high school kids can do it on their own.
On another note, a friend’s kid, in the same grade and school as my eldest, was suspended for 3 days for fighting - she was hit and hit back during a girl fight, a fight she wasn’t directly involved with but intervened to break it up. I read something on here earlier about how one can’t even defend oneself without getting the same punishment as the instigator. I wouldn’t have believed it could happen at this school but it did. I’ve known this kid her entire life and the fact she tried to break it up is wonderful but it sucks she was suspended for that. We had a long talk in our house about this incident and my teens aren’t “figthers” but they’d have our support for defending themselves or for trying to break up a physical fight. It disgusts me that all involved were suspended when a couple were only trying to break it up, got hit, and hit back. When I was in high school, we were allowed to defend ourselves.
I have read so many error filled, ridiculous posts on the VT Massacre, that I can't post corrections to most of them. And WHY so many people keep posting error filled replies, that have been debunked by many others, I can't even begin to imagine.
Posters are STILL claiming that Cho was an illegal alien, that he bought the guns illegally, that his arm was tattooed, and all kinds of other things that were cleared up days ago.
I suspect that AX will never be solved and neither will the Ismail ( which is how FNC spells it and how it has been spelled here since Monday, and for which I keep getting soundly criticized for ) scribbled on his arm. Cho was really into cryptic, puzzle type messages which nobody on campus could decipher.
Go bait someone else....you’re a gnat looking to make a “splash”. LOL
Have they confirmed that he really filed off the serials on the 9mm yet? That always seems odd, although I suppose he had planned to go columbine at some point and planned ahead like that.
The videos do seem to be over quite some period of time. I’m sure the files themselves will have their record dates and so on still.
If you want to reminisce, drop me a FREEPmail and we'll chat.
Who was the Freeper who always posted the cryptic posts back during Impeachment? One of the posts was nothing but the words, "Coke is it." I think the name started with a Q.
I also remember those early days of Free Republic. It seemed a lot of the posts were about the "shadow government" like the Illuminati and the Bildeberger Group and, of course, the Clinton Death List !
quidam
Thanks for posting what was said - I don’t want to watch the video’s by hell’s latest resident. You nailed the speaker accurately. The enemy hasn’t given up the pride, that’s for sure. My heart aches for the survivors and those who knew the victims.
Sorry I can’t help you out on that one. I must have missed that individual or else don’t remember. Sounds like a character. But who could ever forget old Bert?
Where'd you see that? This would be news.
I remember it vividly; I was a student and we were all talking and laughing about it.
I'm sure that your child's English teacher got that junk force fed to him when he was in college.
Yes, as a parent, it is incumbent upon us to pick and choose which battles we're going to storm the barricades of the school with; however, since this garbage has been so conclusively been derided and laughed at, for more than four decades now, a little research on the matter and you could have gone to the principal with arm loads of material to back your side up.
When my kiddo was in school, I picked which battles to fight and which not to, as well. But there are times and I think that this case was one of them, that you probably should have made your case.
When I was in college and grad school, if I or any other student had tried to get a grade raised, I think I/they would have gotten an F. How times have changed and not for the better!
new = knew
I also remember those early days of Free Republic. It seemed a lot of the posts were about the "shadow government" like the Illuminati and the Bildeberger Group and, of course, the Clinton Death List !Didn't someone just get through lamenting the old days of FR when only the facts got posted and tin-foil hat stuff just didn't exist here. Rose colored glasses indeed!
The videos were made in different places and yes, they confirmed that they were made over a period of six days.
He was insane and should never have been made an outpatient.
And I also don't understand why the college didn't boot him out, after all of the problems he caused in '05.
Lol, yeah. I wonder whatever happened to the Clinton Bloodgate thing. Oh well. Back to the present, I think this whole shooting thing is going to get more interesting as time goes on. I think there will be volumes and volumes of stuff on that guy's computer. We shall see.
