“VIRTUALLY ALL successful abortions kill an individual with unique DNA, and it’s not the pregnant woman. Biology at its most basic.”

The problem with taking that position is that you fail to differentiate between potential humans and actual humans. Every time a man ejaculates, approximately 400 million spermatozoa, each with a unique DNA signature, are released. Jack off and kill 400 million potential humans. Not to mention that many eggs die before being fertilized, or are miscarried, often without the mother even being aware of the miscarriage. More potential humans dead.

DNA is not the thing that makes us human...every animal on Earth has DNA, and we share something like 98% of it with all of them. It is our consciousness and self-awareness that make us human.

This is my opinion. YMMV.

At the instance of conception all 46 chromosomes exist and a human being exist. Nothing is added, except food and air.

The child exists at conception:

“Begat sons and daughters” Gen 5:3,4,28-30 Begat always refers to conception and fertilization.

“children & sons in womb” Gen 25:21-22; 2 Ki 19:3; Ruth 1:11

“a man child conceived” Job 3:3 notice the difference: day of birth, night conceived see Rev 12:5 “man child born”
“mother” of unborn child Num 12:12; Lk 1:43

Rom 9:11 for though the twins were not yet born, and had not done anything good or bad

“baby leapt for joy” in mother’s womb Lk 1:41,44

conceived a “son” Lk 1:36; Acts 7:29

“Whosoever is holy [i.e., in a state of sanctifying grace], let him approach. Whosoever is not, let him repent” (Didache 10)

...each with a unique DNA signature...

That's potential. A fertilized egg, within what...72 hours of conception? has a unique strand of DNA, separate from its parents' DNA. That is scientific individuality. We are human long before we are aware that we are human.

And no, I don't believe that a miscarriage is on par with an abortion, if you were wondering that. A miscarriage has more in common with death by natural causes of a post-natal human individual.

If it is our consciousness and self-awareness that make us human, wouldn't murder be legal through toddlerhood, possibly beyond?

Actually, it's only the chimp that we share that much DNA with. Except for the other great apes, no other animanl is even close.
