He can, but ONLY if he has a Republican Congress.

You turn on a dime with your spin. Shameless.

Even if a president does not have a GOP Congress, he can make a difference. He can VETO a repeal of a ban. And he can nominate pro-life judges.

“The procedure at issue involves partially removing the fetus intact from a woman’s uterus, then crushing or cutting its skull to complete the abortion.
Abortion opponents say the law will not reduce the number of abortions performed because an alternate method — dismembering the fetus in the uterus — is available and, indeed, much more common.”

I don’t understand the purpose of “partially removing” the baby and then killing it with his head still in the uterus. What does that serve? Why don’t abortionist pull the baby all the way out and then just crush the head on the table? Its just the same. Is it a legal issue, or they just don’t want to see the baby squirming around, crying and looking up at them?

Is the mother’s uterus some legal “safety zone” for the doc to hide behind, so you keep the brain of the baby in there, kill it there, and you are good to go? Holy friggin’ mackeral.

It really won’t do to outlaw abortion without having a fully articulate and articulable plan for dealing with about 1 million more poor welfare babies every year.

I don't know that "welfare babies" would be the problem. At least, on a conservative talk show around here, the complaint is about underclass mothers always having babies because their welfare allotments go up with each baby.

Now, lets watch as Rudy Guiliani reacts....

He'll probably claim credit for it just like he falsely claims credit for the slight reduction in abortions in NYC during his term as Mayor. He was solidly pro-abortion throughout his term, celebrated Roe v. Wade, received donations and accolades from NARAL for his pro-abort policies, but now that he's running for the GOP nomination suddenly he's pretending to be pro-life and he's actually taking credit for the slight reduction in abortions in his city.

I'm certain that he's going to sweep all of his past comments opposing any Partial Birth Abortion ban under the rug and, keeping with his traditional deceitfulness, he is likely to even take some sort of credit for this pro-life victory. At the very least he's going to twist his talk of the imaginary and illogical pro-Roe v. Wade "strict constructionist" justices that he claims he'll appoint into someone who would have voted with the majority on this decision, thereby attempting to associate himself (despite his lifelong pro-abort history) to this pro-life victory.

This decision is a perfect example of why we need a Republican President in 08. No matter what it takes we need to keep the Democrats from the throne. They will set back President Bush’s SCOTUS gains for decades.

Blaming Satan for what happened at VT only makes the perp into a victim. Put the blame where it belongs and that is with the evil heart of the person who committed the act.

Because if the baby's all the way out, it has been born and is legally a person and the abortionist is officially a murderer and prosecutable as such. I know -- a grisly and meaningless distinction, but that's the way it is.

Forget stealth candidate, give Schmucky, Biden, Kennedy and their smear crews Janice Rogers Brown. They want more women and color on the Court, right? Isn’t that what the most intellectual and moderate Supreme Court Justice Sandra Day O’Connor was advocating? Wasn’t the moderate Ginsburg complaining that she was gender lonely recently?

“I’m certain that he’s going to sweep all of his past comments opposing any Partial Birth Abortion ban under the rug ...”

A decade ago, if the liberal MSM allowed it, he could have done so.

But today, with the internet, youtube, etc, those days are long time gone.

I can’t wait to see what he says about this.

Because, to the pro-babykillers, life only begins *WHEN THE FETUS TAKES A BREATH OF OXYGEN OUTSIDE THE UTERUS*!!

Of course, it’s not a REAL baby prior to that. The mother only imagines movements inside her uterus during the previous 9 months. The doctor’s ultrasound only imagines movement within the uterus during pregnancy. The fetus isn’t alive AT ALL prior to breathing that first breath of oxygen outside the uterus.

You mustn’t be ridiculous! If the baby is outside the uterus and is breathing oxygen, then it’s REAL, and to hurt that baby would be MURDER!! A few minutes before that, the fetus is NOT a living creature since it is in the uterus and NOT breathing oxygen (debatable, since oxygen comes through the umbilical cord) and therefore, it is perfectly allowable to KILL “it”, since it’s not REAL.

There, hope I’ve explained the pro-babykillers reasonings for abortion to you clearly.

Wish I was just being sarcastic, but this is what they truly believe!! It’s just frightening to me! :*(

President George W Bush deserves our respect NOT our derision . . I'm thrilled that he signed it, that he is pro-life, and that the ban was upheld. I respect President Bush for that and for appointing pro-life justices to the Court.

However, Bush deserves our respect when he earns that respect. He also deserves derision when he earns that too. There are several things that he's done that have earned my respect (I voted for him both times) and a good number of things he's done that have earned my derision. This time, I'm quite happy with what he did and how it paid off.

To ALL GW Bashers - How do you feel now? This only happened because of GW! Thank God for this great man and great president. We are lucky to have him. For those of you that have abandoned him, bash him on FR and stab him in the back, shame on you! GW, a great president that deserves more respect from conservatives and republicans.

The 5-4 ruling said the Partial Birth Abortion Ban Act that Congress passed...does not violate a woman's constitutional right to an abortion.

There is no such constitutional right.

This alone makes the entire presidency of President Bush worth it. Of course, his courageous stance on the War on Terror and his performance with the economy is just icing on the cake.

God bless President Bush and those courageous Supreme Court justices who voted to uphold the ban.
