BLACKSBURG, Va. -- The suspected gunman in the Virginia Tech shooting rampage, Cho Seung-Hui, was a troubled 23-year-old senior from South Korea who investigators believe left an invective-filled note in his dorm room, sources say.

The note included a rambling list of grievances and ended with the words "Ismail Ax" in red ink on the inside of one of his arms.

“A muslum?”

I’m thinking it’s going to be the “recent convert” scenario.

Sooo...is it in the note or on his arm?

I had the same thought. It's very badly written.

I have to look it up. Some one did a report on several of the more notorious shooters.

What they found was that many of them had been on prozac and then stopped taking the drug. And to the person, they went postal exactly about the same time space after stopping the drug.

I’ll keep looking for it, it was published about 5 or 6 years ago.

I agree with you. Release the text.
There may be someone who actually understands it.
Rather than just have a bunch of COPs read it and speculate, someone who knows the man might actually read it and know what is meant.

But remember, if it doesn’t come out that he was Muslim then it was a cover-up and he really was.

Ishmael is the biological progenitor of the Arab people, or “race” (for want of a better term), according to the Biblical account. That does not make him, or his father Abraham, spiritual progenitors of the religion called Islam, the “sacred” precepts of which were not revealed to Mohammed until centuries later, long, long after the lifetimes of Abraham and Ishmael. Islam is not, I repeat not an “Abrahamic” religion, whatever that is, despite the fallacious claim that a mutual belief in monotheism is sufficient to establish a substantive spiritual commonality between and among Judaism, Christianity and Islam.

Article on how Muslims in VA decided the outcome of the last gubernatorial race: http://www.itsyourtimes.com/?q=node/2011

Mukit Hossain, president of the Virginia Muslim Political Action Committee, said “his group believes there are 60,000 registered Muslim voters in the state and he is working to mobilize voters to get out and vote Democratic.”

"...I think we can make sizeable impacts," Hossain said. "I think we made a difference in the gubernatorial race" between Democrat Tim Kaine and Republican Jerry Kilgore. The group supported Kaine, the winner of the race by just more than 113,000 votes.

Like you, I went out on a limb yesterday, and predicted this a Sudden Jihad Syndrome (SJS).

If "Ismail Ax" was written on his arm holding the Glock 9mm...maybe we should delay our mea culpas?

Do you think it is out of bounds to find out if Islam played a role in this deadly series of events?

Nuttier than a granola bar.

The dude was a Korean national, majoring in English, at Virginia Tech. In my mind, that's all you need to know.

It is always very useful to capture the rough draft or first version so we can determine who is covering up what.

"Is that why there are new guidelines about prescribing Prozac and other anti-depressants to teenagers? Because it apparently makes some violent instead of depressed?"

No, it's because the lawyers have sued and made it that way. Psychiatrists describe depression as "anger turned inwards". Depressed people are already angry, and if you stuff that anger down by medicine, alchohol or mood it will find its way out eventually, one way or another. Blaming behavior on medications is irresponsible. But then again, irresponsibility is the hallmark of modern American culture. Blame anything or anyone, just don't ever blame yourself.

You’re still not convinced that Islam is a ROP, are you? What will it take for you to see the light?

article: Cho had shown recent signs of violent, aberrant behavior, according to an investigative source, including setting a fire in a dorm room and allegedly stalking some women.

Sounds like they should have expelled him or forced him into treatment.

Setting a fire in the dorms was arson and/or terrorism.

Oh golly!
I forgot.

You think after growing up in a house where everything was a ‘communist conspiracy’ (including the black model on the cover of my 1970 Young Miss Magazine) that I’d remember the rules.
