I certainly hope you did not write this pile of hose $h1t. The cops are not omnipotent. Nor did they have any reason to suspect a shooting rampage 2 hours later. How can you hold them accountable for NOT SENDING THE ENTIRE CAMPUS INTO PANIC MODE! How dumb is that? Yes lets lock down the campus, scare the crap out of every student and faculty member and behave like a police state. Very well thought out reasoning here. It is this typical knee jerk reaction to bad situations that cause us to be in the situation we are in now. I agree with your comments, but have one question..watching the various pressers yesterday, I was somewhat surprised to see the Chief of the VT police being the point person for the discussion. Not denigrating him, or his abilities, but in what will be one of the largest criminal investigations EVER int his country, I’d expect to see the head of the VA state police,or the FBI SAC, or someone else with more clout up there...are they hopefully doing their work behind the scenes, or just ducking and putting this guy up as the media target?

Turns out the shooter was loose on campus. There were witnesses on the scene to inform the cops that this was not a "murder/suicide" (the shooting having taken place in the morning).

Since VT had just gone through the "shooter loose on campus" thing earlier in the school year it's absolutely unfathomable why they didn't react to this at all. You'd think they would have been sensitized.

When they went to the initial murder/shooting scene there was no gun. That would mean no murder/suicide and would mean the murderer was still on the loose, with a gun.

When people are found shot to death, especially in a school environment, that should be more than enough cause for alarm.
