"On this day of national tragedy, when we lost some of our finest to a senseless act, we stand together as a country to mourn those who lost their lives.

"My thoughts and prayers continue to be with the survivors and the many friends, colleagues and family members of those who perished. May God bless them all."

-Rudy Giuliani

Its so horrible to think of being a parent and frantically trying to get a hold of your child.

I can't even imagine. Well, yes I can, because I have two children, but I like to not let my thoughts go down that road, because I believe thoughts have power.

Anyway, my husband has got 24 on--I have to go. Take care, A51! :)

Well, that’s a relief. I thought he was going to use the opportunity to call for more gun control laws like he did after the Empire State attack.

That’s a nice statement and sentiment and no doubt sincere.

Nickkids.com is over that way. This here is for grown-ups.

I've never heard of that website, but I'm not surprised that you have. I'll check it out for my grandson some other time. It's unfortunate that you find rudeness and immaturity to be a trait that should be nurtured by us adults.

To give the other Republican candidates credit they all made very heartfelt statements. I truly believe they all feel for the victims and their families.

“IT’S FRICKING TRUE! IN JANUARY OF 2006, VT ASSOCIATES WORKED TO DEFEAT A PROPOSAL TO ALLOW STUDENTS TO CARRY CONCEALED WEAPONS.”

Really? A stroke of common sense finally prevailed.

But I’m sure he will even if he doesn’t feel he needs to. He’ll do it because its a good thing to do.

The civility level has greatly decreased lately on FR. I’ve cut back on my posting recently just because I can’t stand all the vile, rude, people on here. I have other places I post where I don’t have to put up with all this crap.

From the Gun Owners of America website...

“When a lunatic attacked innocent civilians at the Empire State Building in 1997, Mayor Giuliani used the tragedy to again push for gun control beyond his city’s limits.

“We need a federal law that bans all assault weapons, and if in fact you do need a handgun you should be subjected to at least the same restrictions — and really stronger ones — that exist for driving an automobile,” the Mayor said.

“The United States Congress needs to pass uniform licensing for everyone carrying a gun.”5

When the Mayor did focus on City gun laws, which already were among the most stringent in the country, his effort was only to further disarm the law-abiding....

How could they not? How could anyone not be sorrowed by such a senseless act?

We might clash sometimes A51, but tonight we certainly agree on this.

They’ve been here all along.

In the last two cycles they were Keyes supporters and Buchanan supporters, respectively.

Anyone not as rabid as them isn’t a “true conservative”.

I find FR to be a very courteous website. Check the prayer threads of when a FReeper is in the hospital, for example.

It is Rudy's candidacy that is sowing the seeds of division here. I'm sorry that you can't figure this out.

Does Hunter support students carrying firearms on campus?

But Rudy’s sympathy statement isn’t decisive nor political and people shouldn’t be playing politics and making his statement decisive. I’m sorry you can’t figure this out!

"If you had planned to post all of the statements, why didn't you title this thread "statements from candidates"?"

We all know the reason, don't we? It was a cheap attempt to do more campaigning at the expense of the Virginia Tech victims, and she got caught.
