Not everybody who looks oriental is from the coastal populations where they are by and large small people. Worked with a bunch of Chinese basketball playing students doing an exchange program once...all were like 6 ft and taller.
A bit of stereotyping there .... As it happens, I've known a number of Asian types -- Chinese, Japanese, even Vietnamese and Korean -- who are average height or above.
A generation or two of modern American nutrition is all it takes.
