I wonder if those calling for the arming of all students on campus are the same posters who bemoan the radical and violent students on campus. Most college students are leftist, and some advocate violence. It is tempting to think that some hero would rise up and stop this guy, but isn’t it also likely there could be a series of smaller incidents without a ban, instead of one major incident with a ban? Or a case of mistaken pre-emption?
Both sides are sickeningly taking advantage of this situation, but obviously the gun nut faction is far more vocal here on FR.
“Gun Nut” faction? That certainly shows where YOU stand. What about “Speech Nuts”? “Assembly Nuts”? Why not just say “Constitutional Rights Nuts”? Or is it only “Nuts” when it deals with guns?
The gun nut faction?

A comment like that kind of reminds me of some city slicker Eastern idiot elite type wandering into Prescott AZ say a hundred years ago . . . and complaining about all the guns, horses and cowboy hats around.
I think there are wiser things to do. Especially if one doesn’t want rock salt in one’s rear.
And, in terms of related issues . . . keeping citizens free enough to say such silly things tends to be the responsibility of folks alert, wise, courageous and diligent enough to have arms and be prepared to use them.
Call us gun nuts, if you insist. But I’m sure there are safer forums to do it on.
We just don’t take kindly to such talk around here.
Rudy Guiliani is that you or one of your supporters?
There, fixed it!!!! I am not a "gun nut" - I just care about protecting myself and those around me!
I am very much pro-gun. I really don’t think there should be limits on ownership of any kind at federal or state level.
I am also 1 who “bemoans the students” (and caught hell for that, too).
You’re correct to be concerned about the day-to-day violence. The serial nuts are rarities that almost never happen. More worrisome is the idiocy and drunkenness of “students” (oh my, I’m labeling them all again).
And as I indicated many timesr, I think the situation should be considered about what kind of people you’re dealing with, what the environment is, and so on. I think it’s plausible to disallow students weapons. I’m not sold on it, but it’s my tendency right now. OTOH, it may be infeasible to enforce it and not worthwhile.
Meantime, we still can’t avoid the fact that the campus can do as it wants, as it is sovereign vs. the students. If college admin. wants to ban weapons, it’s not a “legal” matter anyway, because it is their property to use as they wish.
