Thanks for the info.
I don't think so, her roommate and an RA were killed at the dorm, but she apparently wasn't there. That's why he went to the other site looking for her.
Zero.
Ziltch.
Zip.
Notta.
It's a darn good thing the shooter killed himself because who knows what else might have happened had he not.
Yikes. I hadn't even thought of that. When did the killing spree start in the classrooms, around 9:15 or 9:45 AM? That's still over 2 hours for the cops to take this guy down.
How would they be able to track the 9mm Glock purchase down to a gun shop in Roanoke, and interview the owner by early evening (6-8 hours afterward), if he’d filed the numbers off? Come to think of it, I haven’t heard anything one way or the other about the serial numbers either.
Virginia has a one-gun-per-month law (courtesy of Doug Wilder) and he supposedly bought the Glock on 9 March. No idea when or where he bought the .22, it hasn’t been reported.

Hey, you’re the one who made the claim that the police tried to open the doors. I have yet to see that information anywhere else.
He very likely killed himself LONG before 12:30. I think we need to wait for the full timeline to understand the history.
My SPECULATION is that there was SOME shooting at Norris, then a lull while the police arrived. If there was no shooting while they were outside, they wouldn’t have barged in, but would be waiting for a quiet way to open the doors and sneak in (like cutters, which one film showed a guy coming with chain cutters).
But then the tape from the guy’s cell shows a bunch of shots, and when the shots started the police run over and there is an “explosion” (could well be blowing the door). Suggests that once the shooting started again, the police DID storm the building.
Speculation continues: Some reports say that the guy shot himself when he was “surrounded”. It doesn’t say WHO surrounded him, but with no students having guns, you could guess that the police surrounded him and he shot himself rather than surrendering. That would mean that the police didn’t immediately shoot him. Of course, the police had to be careful not to accidentally shoot the wrong student, students could have been running around in the halls trying to get away.
That was an amazing, yet typical testimony of the President's faith, Emily.
I think we should pray especially for him as he talks with families, that he might be able to give them comfort that comes through him from the Lord.
Their grief is so deep that few of us can even fathom it.
I suspect it may have been a new or previous boyfriend.
yep.
We moved to a different school district where son #2 did very very well, where he had had great difficulties in the previous “highly acclaimed” district.
Still, knowing what I know now......
cops didn’t take this guy down. When the cops finally got in the building the guy killed himself.
The only one to blame is the murderer himself.

Thank you for sharing that story. I love our President.
Best wishes for you and yours as well.
People have seen so many movies and TV shows with “twists” that they don’t realize than in the overwhelming majority of real-life murders the perp is an obvious first choice.

You said: The amazing thing is, he lived ON-CAMPUS (Harper Hall, I think). From my three years in a dorm, I find it remarkable that this guy could put this together (two handguns and a crapton of ammo) and not have somebody have an inkling that Something Bad was going to happen. Its very hard to keep secrets with that many 18- to 23-year-olds crammed together that tightly.

Thanks for that information. At the risk of jumping to conclusions (and I am not doing that, only taking a look at additional facts as they come along), IF Virginia Tech HAD done a lock down, they would have been locking down the shooter along with the students. We don’t know WHEN this shooter made it to Norris Hall— he could already have been there, making final plans, stalking, etc. when the lockdown order would have been given. This would likely have changed nothing in how this matter occurred. There is NO likelihood that the campus police could have secured all of the buildings on campus, and Norris Hall is, I understand, on the other end of campus, and would have been one of the last secured, it would appear.
I am not taking sides in this matter, simply urging people to wait for all of the information before making decisions to fire (and in one post I read, to EXECUTE) the president of VT.
How about “scumbag murdering slime”? That works for me.
Thanks.
Geez. You can't buy that kind of leadership.
Now, instead of mourning these 32 children, we're suppose to find the blame immediately and trash somebody -- anybody.
The press is like the plant in Little Shop of Horrors. It loves blood and it MUST be fed.
Watching the reporters pontificate last night, I had a fleeting thought that I prayed that they be completely wrong in everything they said so that, once and for all, this country can see what these awful people do to us day in and day out.
