Good morning all.

Not a lot going on that doesn't involve the Katsav sex scandal but I did find this piece interesting.

. IRAN: INTERNATIONAL ISLAMIC COURT NEEDED, TOP OFFICIALS SAYS

Tehran, 29 June (AKI) - Iran's chief prosecutor Ghorbanali Dari Najafabadi has championed the creation of an international Islamic court to safeguard the rights of Muslim nations which are "being routinely denied by international courts dominated by the West". Najafabadi made the appeal during a speech in Mashad, capital of Iran's western Khorasan region. He said bodies such as the International Court of Justice based in The Hague, Netherlands, "served Western and American interests" and were incapable of "meting out fair justice".

An Islamic international tribunal should not just deal with disputes between nations but also try "criminals and renegades of the calibre of Saddam Hussein", Najafabadi said.

Al Qaeda's Iraq tactics now in UK: terrorism adviser
Posted 10 hours 18 minutes ago

The British Prime Minister's top anti-terrorism adviser says the foiled car-bomb plot in London shows Al Qaeda has imported the tactics of Iraqi and Indonesian militants to Britain.

"Make no mistake, this weekend's bomb attacks signal a major escalation in the war being waged on us by Islamic terrorists," John Stevens, the former commissioner of the London police, wrote in an article for the News of the World newspaper.

"Initially it was believed the main problem police faced was insulated groups of home-grown extremists, but now it is clear a loose but deadly network of interlinked operational cells has developed."

"The terror of July 7 (2005) was awful enough, but now Al Qaeda has imported the tactics of Baghdad and Bali to our streets," he said.

"It will get worse before it gets better."

I was surprised by the source for this one but at least it has been admitted to.
