McALLEN, Texas (AP) -- A 42-year-old Border Patrol agent was convicted Friday of taking a 23-year-old detainee to a motel and sexually assaulting her.
A federal grand jury deliberated about eight hours before convicting Scott Anthony Sullivan of Premont of violating the civil rights of a young woman by sexually assaulting her and causing bodily injury.
He faces up to life in prison at his June 27 sentencing. He was taken into custody pending the sentencing.
The woman is a U.S. citizen by birth who has grown up in Mexico and was traveling with family members to live with a relative in Dallas.
Testimony during the five-day trial showed Sullivan separated the woman from her family at the Falfurrias checkpoint on March 21, 2003, and took her birth certificate. He then arranged for her to be brought to the bus station in Falfurrias, where he said he would later return her birth certificate.
Sullivan finished his shift and drove to the bus station, but instead of returning the document took the woman to a motel and sexually assaulted her.
He brought her back to the bus station the next morning, giving her the birth certificate, a bus ticket and $20.
The investigation began after the Mexican Consulate contacted the U.S. Department of Homeland Security's Office of the Inspector General.
Let him rot in jail.
He seems to have gone through awful lot of trouble to get into awful lot of trouble.
Time to do the time.
BP ping!
If you want on, or off this S. Texas/Mexico ping list, please FReepMail me.
This guy is going to give the rest of the Border Patrol agents a bad name and the drivebymedia will exploit it to the fullest.
Hang ‘Em High!
Grand Juries indict, not convict..
A life sentence for rape???? Gee and Bill Clinton is still walking free and making millions and only God knows how many women he’s violated.
Hang him. A 200’+ drop, and the rope not around his neck.
Good place for him.
You’re right. (nice to see ya!)
I call BS on this.

McALLEN Jurors are expected to begin deliberations today in a sexual assault case against a former U.S. Border Patrol agent.
Scott Anthony Sullivan, 42, is accused of violating the civil rights of a girl and a woman in two separate incidents while working as a Border Patrol agent at the Falfurrias checkpoint. The case is heard before U.S. District Judge Ricardo Hinojosa in federal court in McAllen.
The charges stem from two separate reports.
In the first charge, a woman accuses Sullivan of assaulting her on March 21, 2003, according to a federal indictment.
The second charge stems from a report filed by a 16-year-old that Sullivan molested her on Aug. 31, 2001.
Both of the alleged victims were given aliases in the indictment to protect their identities.
