Disagreement is one thing, but threatening to leave troops without adequate support to complete the mission while they are in harm’s way is quite another. The Democrats are doing real damage to our troops and to our national security. They went beyond simple disagreement years ago. They have been undermining and obstructing the President’s efforts to combat the enemy since shortly after they voted to authorize him to conduct this war. That is despicable.

One more thing: Alger Hiss was treason. The Soviets even identified him as a Communist agent.

MIDI - SOUND OF SILENCE
http://noble-knights.com/midi/
Hello patriots, my friends
I have some bad news once again
It’s disgusting what they’re doing...our great nation they’ve been screwing
Here’s the lesson, we cannot trust the Democrats
sewer rats
We hear the sound of treason
They would just sell this country out
of that, you shouldn’t have a doubt
They’re for abdicating freedom
its in writing, you should read em
Here’s the lesson, we cannot trust the Democrats
sewer rats
We hear the sound of treason
Their hatred of the USA
they’re displaying everyday
Disdain for our Constitution
it is time for retribution
The lesson is we cannot trust the Democrats
sewer rats
We hear the sound of treason
It’s total power they must gain...it is a plan that is insane
If a Dem is not the president...they hope that we fail, it’s evident
Our defenses, we cannot trust to Democrats...sewer rats
We hear the sound of treason
Oh, yes, here they go again...they want rule by the U.N.
Socialism is ideal
that’s the way the lefties feel
The lesson is we cannot trust the Democrats
sewer rats
We hear the sound of treason

Do you know if the Logan Act has been challenged in the SCOTUS? Don’t have ability to check it here from work (Break’s over) but sure seems unconstitutional to me. And if they’ve never charged Jimmy Carter with it they will surely never charge Pelosi.

Please read my post - I used Hiss as the very definition of true ‘Treason’ as opposed to protest.

OK, then do you believe it has been misused in this case?
I do not, but am interested in hearing if people at FR disagree, then why they do.
The citations you provided (Code Pink, disagreeing with the war) weren't mentioned, so I wasn't sure exactly where you were going with your thought.

"And if theyve never charged Jimmy Carter with it they will surely never charge Pelosi." Jimmy Carter has a deathgrip hold for first place in the "Sell Your Country Out to It's Enemies" contest. The fact that Nancy Pelosi is competing for 2nd or 3rd place doesn't make it any less offensive! ;)

Good question but I don’t know the answer yet. I’m still searching. I have read that the Logan Act has been part of our criminal law for more than two centuries.

I have been saying this for a long time now, and it goes way back, at least to the time Teddy Kennedy made a trip to Soviet Russia to counter the foreign policy of Ronald Reagan.

I can't understand how certain Democrats (the most shameless ones) think.
I am not at all fond of Dennis Kucinich or Eli Pariser of MoveOn.org or Air America's Randi Rhodes.
But I am on THEIR side as a fellow American when it comes down to Islamic jihadists who want to make us follow Islam at the end of a gun barrell or die a horrible, agonizing death.
The rights and freedoms that allow the goofy liberals above and us FReepers to have these discussions are one of the fundamental bonds as Americans that unite us in common cause.
Yet to the Left, George Bush is the "real terrorist" and they spend night and day attacking the "neo-cons" who are orchestrating the war on terror as they see it, and almost completely silent on the evils of Islamic militants plotting to blow up civilians in Algiers, London, Madrid, New York, etc...
These people need to get a clue or read a history book. This is pre-World War II era all over again and the "appease the evildoers and criticize those who stand up against them" approach is being recycled and polished off as new.
Who needs Neville Chamberlain when you have Nancy Pelosi go to the people killing our troops in Iraq and helping the terrorists shell the cities in Israel and say:
"We came in friendship, hope, and determined that the road to Damascus is a road to peace."

Respectfully, I do not. Treason would be giving data security codes to the Syrians, not merely meeting with them. As horrible as it is to many here, Pelosi - and many others - are duly elected representatives for a lot of people who believe we should leave, now.
My own opinion is that is, and has been silly to bother with Iraq and Afghanistan when the real enemy is the country from which 15 of the hijackers came from and that funds the Whabi proselytizing in this country. It is the wrong war in the wrong place, we are attacking Hydra heads instead of going to the heart of the matter, where the money and fanaticism come from. As long as there is fundamentalist Islam backed with oil money we are shedding our blood where we need not.

Treason as defined in the United States Constitution:
Treason against the United States, shall consist only in levying War against them, or in adhering to their Enemies, giving them Aid and Comfort. No Person shall be convicted of Treason unless on the Testimony of two Witnesses to the same overt Act, or on Confession in open Court.
Please tell me how the positions of the current Democratic MEMBERS OF CONGRESS, not Code Pink or the people protesting, are NOT giving our enemy comfort. Our enemy wants us to withdraw. Our enemy wants us to look weak. Our enemy wants President Bush out of power. Our enemy wants timetables. Disagreeing with a war and actively promoting policies that will bring about loss are two very different things.
Also, the Democrats will have discussions and negotiations with the worst of America's enemies, yet they will not join another U.S. political party on Fox News.

Please tell me how the positions of the current Democratic MEMBERS OF CONGRESS, not Code Pink or the people protesting, are NOT giving our enemy comfort. It wasn't a comment on the subject, but a comment on the article. The author brought up the issue of treason in this context and then cited a completely irrelevant definition for it.

See it's interesting because the terrorists don't seem to agree with you about whether Iraq and Afghanistan are central frontlines in their war with the West.
Besides the letters and videos where they have announced the importance of defeating the Americans and Coalition Forces in Iraq, I think we got the message of the importance of Iraq when al-Qaeda aligned terrorist cells blew up people in Madrid and London as demands for them to pull out of Iraq.
Why, if al-Qaeda did not view Iraq as a central front in their war on the west, than why would they try to terrorize and intimidate these people and their leaders to abandon Operation Iraqi Freedom?
A final note - you make a generalization that because Nancy Pelosi went to Syria it is treason. I believe the author makes the point that it is clear that the actions of certain Democrat leaders, and the evidence she provided, made it clear that they were purposely trying to weaken the war effort that U.S. troops were involved in for political purposes.
They put the interests of their political gain, which means empowering America's enemies, ahead of the interests of the United States, its government and its people.
Like melanie Morgan says, the point is if that isn't treason than what is?

Too bad they do not believe in this fundamental bond, which is why they are NOT true Americans.
This is pre-World War II era all over again
It is pre-WWII outside of our borders and post-Vietnam inside our borders. A VERY bad combination.
