Your characterization of fulfilling a service requirement and then opting to leave the service as “bailing out” is self-serving. Bailing out implies an abandonment to a commitment-—which isn’t the case.

How the heck is that “self-serving”?

This is not surprising to me in the least. When these smart officers look at the pig-ignorant insanity coming from the morons at the top, regarding how to play kissy face with the enemy, it’s a wonder they don’t turn their guns around and stage a coup.

Because characterizing it that way serves a point you're trying to make. Fulfilling an obligation is fulfilling an obligation---it's not bailing out. No service academy expects every graduate to be a lifer.

Begone troll.

But was it 50% as the original poster claims?

‘Check my postings, newbie clown’

I have, and there doesn’t appear to be much conservative thought in the ones I’ve read. The only common thread is your insistence on the phrase ‘pig-ignorant’. As far as animals go pigs are pretty smart. According to you so are the USMA grads, so smart that they should violate their oaths and commit treason because the elected leaders are ‘pig-ignorant’.

As far as the ‘newbie’ label there have been older trolls than you newbie. Unfortunate for you that you don’t possess the ignorance of a pig to discern that fact.

My class lost almost half of those who started. Nearly all were gone at the end of two years.

I don't recall the proportion of voluntary/involuntary disenrollments; off-hand, I'd guess a little over half were voluntary, which would be roughly a quarter of those who started.

Yeah, whatever. If you read that I'm a liberal troll, then there's just no excuse for publik edumacation where you're from.

‘Yeah, whatever’

There’s a deep thought.

‘If you read that I’m a liberal troll’

Never said you were liberal although the coup comment was a classic.

While we still have an ostensible Republic, and even as the GWB crowd chews it away at every opportunity, our glorious CinC has fared no differently than those other failed toy soldiers in civilian dress. Actually, I'm surprised he didn't create a special military-like uniform for himself and Rumsfeld like a Hatian tin-pot for use in pointing at a topographical map in the White House Situation Room; the ridiculous purported leader that he is.

Wow.... I'm sorry. I didn't know you were insane. You suffer from one of the worst cases of Bush Derangement Syndrome I've ever seen.....

I think you have a personal problem masquerading as a political viewpoint.

Is that you Rosie O'donnell?

I know, I was being too harsh with them.

I know a couple of Officers (Not West Pointers.) that are not making the Army their career.

I was projecting. I just left my hitch with the National Guard. It's illogical but I feel guilty as hell about it.

Maybe war scared the ladies.

It's not about being scared - it's about being a good mom. Many women leave the military when they have kids because deployments are hard on kids, especially when it's mom that's gone. Also a lot of military women marry military men. Imagine both being deployed at the same time and having kids... Please don't paint with a broad brush.

It seems to me that those leaving because of repeated tours in Iraq are NOT the Army's best.

Hardly. In fact, I'd argue the opposite. The best are leaving because they can. Those that have no opportunity outside of the Army are stuck. This is painting with a broad brush, OF COURSE, but the Army will find themselves in trouble soon enough.

It's not suprising when you consider the fact that we are conducting a so-called war that places artificial limits of engagement on our soldiers while at the same time placing them under a microscope for possible criminal charges while conducting said "warfare"

Thank you. I hear so much "suck it up - it's what you signed up for - you should love war" - need I go on? that it's refreshing to hear someone on here that actually recognizes the problem. Our men are forced to live with restrictions that our police force here in the US doesn't have to abide by in a world where a large portion of the population wants to kill them. This is on top with all the other "fun" of a deployment to a war zone. I don't blame anyone for leaving.

Some folks would like to pretend that if you do time and get out, you're a traitor, but if you never do time, that's ok? Where does that make sense? So what if someone only does 4-5 years? Does that make them less of a soldier? Are their sacrifices worth nothing?
