Yes, unless there is a clear danger to the child, I think it is immoral and illegal for the government to interfere.

You have my prayers and I only wish there was more we could do to help.

My granddaughter was ill , not "in danger", when the state took custody. They seized that baby for no good reason.

Power? Money? Control?

I don't know but I know what I suspect. To me this is nothing more than kidnapping under the guise of government authority.
