On the same day that Rudy Giuliani comes to town, a Strategic Vision poll has released a poll that puts him at the top of the GOP presidential pack in Georgia.
On the Democratic side, Hillary Clinton leads among Georgia, but both Barack Obama and John Edwards are close on her heels.
The poll by Strategic Vision, a Republican-leaning public affairs firm, also shows U.S. Sen. Saxby Chambliss, the Republican incumbent, beating Vernon Jones, the only Democrat who has expressed public interest in the 08 Senate race, by 57 to 29 percent.
Here are the parameters of the three-day poll: 800 voters contacted April 5-7, with a breakdown of 46 Republican and 41 percent Democrat. Margin of error on the broadest questions was 3 percent, but much higher on primary questions.
Among Republicans, it was:
Giuliani, 23 percent;
John McCain, 17 percent;
Fred Thompson, 12 percent;
Newt Gingrich, 10 percent;
Mitt Romney, 5 percent;
Tom Tancredo, Sam Brownback, Tommy Thompson, all at 3 percent;
Mike Huckabee, 2 percent;
Chuck Hagel, Jim Gilmore and Ron Paul, all at 1 percent.
Among Demcorats, it was:
Clinton, 25 percent;
Obama, 22 percent;
John Edwards, 20 percent;
Bill Richardson, 4 percent;
John Biden and Wesley Clark, 3 percent;
Chris Dodd and Dennis Kucinich, 1 percent.
Nothing he could do. Even if he shoots a lawyer, he’d be merely shrugged off as a plagiarist.
Well, I have found him pretty interesting and engaging - a perfect man for a consigliere, cheneyesque Executive VP position. Then again, my acquaintance with him is extremely superficial.
“If Rudy is the R candidate I will vote 3rd party. Much better candidates out there”
Save your time. If that scenario plays out, you can more easily cast your democrat vote by not voting at all
Lets get the strategy straigt right now. Whoever wins the RNC nomination we must vote for them to not allow a Democratic majority. THe stakes are that high. DO you want to pay more taxes? I don’t. I live in NW WA and gas is $3.25 a gallon. Dems would certainly make that number jump over $4 per gallon. They target oil companies and the oil companies just raise the price per barrel. It is a lose lose situation but hey, we can all take the bus eat organic food and hug trees and we’ll be the happiest bunch of mediocratic losers ever! Hell yea, socialism, say that dirty dirty word!
“When is he going to do something to get his numbers above an asterik?”
2020 maybe? When he can come up with a viable platform based on multiple issues and have a history of leadership
Actually, yes there is a cause he hasn’t betrayed.
Iraq.
(I’m not a McCain fan by ANY stretch)
“Newt is a homegrown product there - why only 10?”
Maybe because he’s unelectable. I like Newt, he’s a great conservative. He has very limited support though. The party doesn’t need great conservatives who can’t get elected. We don’t have Ronald Reagan running in 08. We do need to beat Hussein Obama or Hillary Rodham though
Then you know you should get rid of point number 1.

Yep. My precinct in an Atlanta suburb voted in my conservative rep with over 60% of the vote.
Georgia will be FRed country. :)
Fred Ping!!
77% or republicans reject that liberal POS scumbag Rudy.
I can almost hear Hillary taking the oath of office now...
I live in S. GA and there is a lot of support for Rudy here.
We might have to take a look at the "A" you claim that you got in stats then.
Duncan Hunter??
Are you freakin kidding me?
Disparage the man's chances if you want to, and you may have a good case.
But two things Hunter unquestionably has are a viable platform (I don't even know what one issue you could mean -- defense, immigration, social issues, trade?) and a history of leadership.
