[BREAKING] N.J. Gov. Corzine Hurt In Car Accident
WBZTV.COM ^ | 12 APRIL 2007 | AP

(CBS) GALLOWAY TOWNSHIP, N.J. New Jersey Gov. Jon S. Corzine was injured Thursday night in a car accident on the Garden State Parkway, but a spokesman says the injuries are not considered life-threatening.

Democratic U.S. Sen. Jon Corzine was elected governor of New Jersey in November 2006, soundly beating Republican businessman Doug Forrester in a race that set records for campaign spending but alienated voters with its mean-spirited politicking. With 97 percent of precincts reporting, Corzine had 53 percent to Forrester's 44 percent.

Do you think they’d be using a helicopter to look for a hit-and-run driver if you were run off the road?

Yes, because the governor was run off the road. They'd want to speak with the driver, even if the governor's car itself wasn't hit, because the driver is presumed to know that he was involved in an accident. And they could probably cite the driver for something, even if it's not leaving the scene of an accident because he didn't know that he caused it.

Atlantic City Medical which shares facilities with Betty Bacherach Center is top notch, and is right outside of Galloway Township.

I know the exit he had the accident at and there is very heavy traffic at the exit. The worse part of the Parkway in South Jersey.

I think being illegal and committing an illegal act cancels each other out making them legit.

I really do hate to be so cynical, but I agree with that.

Does this strike anyone else as being crass and tasteless in an article about an automobile accident?

Are they trying to imply that politics had something to do with the crash?

that part of the GSP is near empty at that time of day during the week.

my guess is his motorcade was going 90MPH+, came upon a slower car that didn’t move from the left lane, they swerved to avoid it.

Someone up-thread commented on this same quote, that if Corslime were an “R” that would never be mentioned. So right.

if his motorcade was speeding - they will never admit to it - and will instead say the “other driver caused it”.

I haven’t read the whole thread, but that struck me as political leftist nonsense, and really tacky at the same time.

I wonder how fast they were going. Gubernatorial motorcades have a reputation for reckless speed. Ask Ed Rendell.

I’d wager it was more than 20 over the limit.

Not based on facts or evidence, but based on presumed low limits, and arrogant government officials.

Ocean, I believe that is the section of the Parkway where one of the rest stops is.

If you are going northbound you actually have to get in the left lane to get into the rest stop and also to exit.

It is a tricky spot. You have to speed up to get in the left land and they you have to slow down to enter the exit.
