Nifong Issues Apology to Ex-Lacrosse Players

Posted: 2 minutes ago

Durham — The local prosecutor who charged three Duke lacrosse players with raping a stripper apologized Thursday, acknowledging the decision of state prosecutors to dismiss all charges against them was correct.

"To the extent that I made judgments that ultimately proved to be incorrect, I apologize to the three students that were wrongly accused," Durham County District Attorney Mike Nifong said in a statement.

Any apology that begins with “to the extent that...” is incredibly lame.

I am ticked at Nifong, but I am also ticked at the coward who refuses to prosecute that black woman who started this whole thing.

Sarge, he said at the press conference that due to her mental problems prosecuting her would "not be in the interest of justice." Translated from politicianspeak, I believe that means "I'm running for higher office and I cant afford to alienate her demographic."

Oh, well Nifong, after you tore a community apart, destroyed several lives, and perverted and corrupted our american system, I’m glad to hear that you’re “sorry”.

That should heal everything and make it allllll better.

Thanks, I think. That’s just the peachy kind of tidbit that just does wonders for my faith in the System...

Now what he needs to do to mean what he said, it is time for him to whip out his checkbook and pay the players ALL the money is cost to defend themselves from his witch hunt/election circus.

Can they sue him in civil court or does he have immunity?

Prosecutors who play by the book are immune to lawsuits ... Nifong had his own personal
political agenda, in his zeal to put these young men in prison he stepped way out of bounds.
He will probably be disbarred and he most certainly will be sued ... no question.

Tie a yellow rope ‘round the old oak tree and hang him therefrom.

It wasn't "malice". It was an easy way to turn around an election campaign he was badly losing. He may or may not have disliked the dukies, but it was his job and his "not quite vested" govt retirement he was after. So what if reputations are destroyed and somebody ends up doing 20 or 30 years in the state pen. Fong wanted his govt check, dammit!

“the money is cost to defend themselves”

I heard a number like $3.5 million between the three boys. Stunning funds. I hope they recover in multiples of that amount.

you said it. three rich boys are expendible justice in the quest for black votes.

Now they are pushing the UTTER BS that “we innocently listened to the crazy woman.”

THAT IS 100% hogwash! That is just them trying to save Nifong’s law license.

He DESTROYED three lives, he held three families HOSTAGE in the name of his own personal gain.

That was intentional.
That was pre-meditated.

This deserves punative damages.

Imagine what happened to people who did not have 3.5 million?

Nifon’s actions were not a one time deal. they were from habit.

i heard greta say that what Nifong said may actually hurt his case before the Bar, rather than help it. “to the extent i made errors in judgment...” She said it was a stupid thing to say. NO reason to expect this tiger change stripes at this point, i suppose. He’s been pretty stupid all along.

read what he said.

He made a decision that LATER turned out to be incorrect.

He is trying to set up a honest belief defense.

This is why they are not prosecuting the woman. Not because she is bipolar but because prosecuting her would expose the fruad of Nifong’s choice.

He should be forced to crawl and humiliate himself like Imus is being forced to. The same for the Duke 88 and Duke`s president.

This calls for a federal pound-me-in-the-ass prison. Do they have those under state jurisdiction?
