well, an islamic punishment would include lopping off the leg [the remaining one] which carried the scoundrel around, and then the hands which did evil. I’d think that lopping off the leg could be enough.

A second man fled the scene and was not in custody. Great partner.

There has to be a punchline here, but can’t think of one.

Gives a whole new meaning to the term ‘fled on foot’.

Whew! From the title and the first half of the first sentence, I was expecting to read that one of his natural legs was actually ripped off by the chain somehow. Glad the story wasn't THAT bloody!
But what an ijit! Next time he should use some Fixodent or sumpthin'.
To: NormsRevenge
Shucks- just reading the title, I thought he had the leg cut off when trying to steal the atm machine.

I don’t suppose it would have helped him escape if his partner had given him a hand.

These guys apparently did not do good research - most if not all ATMs stolen in this manner over the years are found later abandonded with all the money still inside.
One must be prepaired to crack a safe (internal and very secure) after making off with the ATM box itself - usually bolted to the floor.
