I have never defended the guest worker program, but I do defend against hyperbole and false attacks that are not based in facts, but rather in emotional poppycock.

I, in fact, posted a thread a while back with the sole purpose of expressing thoughtful opinions about the illegal issue, for and against the President's policy (I, being against), without rancor and argumentation. (And the kind of mindless bashing that's prominent on this thread).

It actually worked for a few thousand posts.

If that makes me 'pathological' in your book, then so be it. But it looks a lot more like you're the one who doesn't care to be civil......

I have no problem reciprocating civility. One thing we should all agree upon, above all else, is to disagree agreeably. If I have ever come off as uncivil to you, which is possible in these heated debates, then I apologize.

I will, however, never apologize for speaking the truth. One thing that really frustrates me is the knee-jerk fashion with which many on FR defend Bush, especially in regards to the issue of Illegal Immigration.

Bush deserves much criticism here, and to deny at this point that Bush wants the free and unrestricted flow of cheap labor across our Southern Borders to me is not only naive, but borders on cognitive dissonance. He has had more than six years, five of them after 9-11, to secure our borders, and still refuses to do it. That’s not an opinion, that’s a statement of fact. Our borders are not secure because Bush doesn't want them to be, and that’s the truth.

I am certainly appreciative of many things our President has stood for and accomplished while being staunchly against his Border/Illegal Immigration and Spending policies. Yet -- one can be passionate, yes, even righteously indignant, without being vitriolic. It is too bad that so often we can argue passionately 'in the flesh' and not rely on facts, persuasion and God's Holy Spirit to lead us (as we also seek to lead others) to right thinking and acting. The tongue indeed is as a rudder, as flames of fire and can do enormous good or damage.
